It still isn't working. Part of the problem might be that I didn't write this file, I bought my retro pie from someone on amazon. So I guess I don't know this system very well.

Dude, literally the 5th point on the list asks about the image and if it was official or not.

Like @mitu says, these aren't supported and you can either go back to the guy who sold you it for support or start from scratch with a fresh install from this site.

@mitu @markyh444 The image came with a ton of great games already preloaded on the SD card. If I use the image you recommended will I have to reinstall all the games and emulators the image came with? Or is there a way to just reinstall emulation station without having to redo everything?
Unfortunately I do not have a receipt for the image and the seller did not identify himself. I really wish I could go back to him or her, but I can't.

@mitu Is there some image that retro pie officially supports that has all the emulators installed, and all I have to do is backup the games and them add them? Thank you for your help.

The official image is the only thing supported here. https://retropie.org.uk/download/

You can add ROMS yourself. Most systems have a default emulator pre-installed. If they don't, most of those emulators can be found for installation in the RetroPie-Setup script under Experimental Packages.

@Thorr69 I see.... Will the games automatically work if I put them roms folders on retro pie manager?

@mitu Will reinstalling retro pie erase my working roms?

@mitu @markyh444 Can I back up my roms and put them back in without any unexpected problems?

@Unknown Depends where the ROMs came from. If they're from your unofficial image, then I guess you can try them with the official image. You should bare in mind that you have no idea where those ROMs came from. For all you know, the ROMs could contain viruses or malware.

It's better to source the ROMs yourself. Personally, I think pre-loaded ROMs are a waste of time. Most of the games you get you'll probably never play and so are just a waste of space on your SD card.

@Retro Well the games do work, and I will scan for viruses , but so far I haven't been spammed or hacked. I will keep your advice in mind. Thank you.

Try fixing the permissions of your ROM folders. Depending how you copied them they could have bad permissions and therefore not show in emulationstation.

You can fix it going to Tools in the Retropie script - it's called reset ROM permissions.

If this makes any difference, I ripped the roms off my ds.

To open the configuration menu in DraStic, press the left trigger button on your controller. From there you can navigate and change settings.

@mitu Is there a way to this with a keyboard? Just curious.

@mitu Well I found out about the keyboard, but could you send me a link to a guide on how to configure Drastic for retro pie?

I counldn't figure out how to use drastic, so I used Ir-dusume 2015 instead, which works great and is 10x easier to use.
