    Hello,

I'm just migrating all my roms and systems from my pi3 to pi4 and all is ok apart from the arcade folder.

All the roms work and images in Emulationstation, but the video previews don't. If I view via the network (\retropie\roms\arcade\images) they are there, but if I can't play on my PC unless I install VLC player.

I checked my pi3 and they are the same but play, do I need to install some extra video codex on the Pi4?

    Thanks

Are you using omxplayer or the internal video player for video previews ?

@mitu I've tried it with it on and off and same results.

@g0nz0uk on the Pi3 all good though.

I copied 1 video over from the working Pi3 to the Pi4 and no luck.

On the PC they don't run until I used VLC player. All other emulators are fine, but when I browse to them via \retropie\roms they show their preview in the thumbnail, but the arcade ones don't.

It's an old problem with certain arcademovies snapshots, their codec is not compatible with the Pi's mpeg4 decoder. On the Pi3, only omxplayer was affected, but recent versions of vlc have started doing the same.
The only workaround at this time is to transcode those videos to a codec that works with vlc/omxplayer. There are a few forums topics with some utilities that would do this conversion automatically.

@mitu thanks, I’ll have a search of the forum and see what tool that is and give it a try.

@mitu I managed to re-encode the vidoes using handbrake and then import and all is working great now.

Saw someone reply and get banned here, hopefully I didn't cause any issues with this post.
