I'm pretty bad in Linux, so I'm wondering if this is something that can be updated manually? Is it a bug? Can it even be done at all?
Curious to hear your thoughts and thanks for the help.

@FetusSandwich you're running Raspbian stretch, so would need to update to the latest Retropie Image (raspbian buster) to get the correct version of GCC to compile lr-mame. is it not available as a binary?
before you do that, what is your goal, here? the chances are that anything that is only available on lr-mame and not the older mame cores, won't be emulated at a playable speed.

@dankcushions Hi dank. This is actually great to know, as I think you probably just saved me from disappointment.
So I'm working on an arcade build of sorts for the .221 set in its entirety. I guess I assumed here that I could download and align everything to lr-mame, but that doesn't seem to be the case, correct?
Should I just stick to MAME 0.78 and lr-mame2003-plus and go that route? At least I know those will work and that core is bulletproof.
