      Pi Model: 4
      Power: standard USB-C
      RetroPie: 4.6
Built From: official SD image from website
      USB Devices connected: none
Controller used: Xin-mo dual arcade board

Hi. I just installed the system today and I am having several issues:

      1. I don't see a way to configure two-player input using the dual arcade board. RP seems to consider this as one controller.
      2. Something happened after my last configuration change/reboot. The filesystem is read-only and I get error messages all over the place.

Those two are the big issues. I also have questions about configuring the system but these aren't stopping me from using RetroPie:

      1. In kiosk mode, a user can still hit left/right and get into settings. I want to disable that.
      2. I want to disable the info box when a title launches, which also says "press a button to configure". I don't want the player to do be able to get into that.

        See https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Xin-Mo-Controller/.

This usually happens when a sdcard gets corrupted, is this a new card ?

Which settings ? I think the RetroPie system is hidden when running in Kiosk mode.

You can do that by configuring Runcommand and disabling the launch menu.

It's new-ish. I'd be surprised if it got corrupted. I guess I could re-install. Is there a way to verify and/or fix it?

So, the UI settings and all of that are unavailable but if you press left/right to select the machine, you can see a configuration page. That lets you check the IP address and lots of other things.

There are programs that can test the card - something like H2testw.

I think that's normal, Kiosk mode hides the items marked 'hidden', so if you don't hide the RetroPie's system entries, they'll still show up. Kid mode hides the RetroPie system entirely.

              I'll look into it.

I wanted to try kid mode but then it said there was nothing to show.

The Xin-mo tweak worked except that it's incorrectly mapping p0 to player 2 and p1 to player 1. How can I reverse that?

I'm also confused about the "hotkey" button. It's letting me map it to select but then select+start doesn't quit the game.

The Kid only shows items which are explicitly selected to be kid-friendly (aka whitelisting). If you don't mark any game as 'Kid friendly', then nothing will be shown.

I don't understand what p0/p1 is in this context ? What emulator are you testing ?

Did you wire the controllers identically - since they use the same configuration, input X (button or joy axis) on P1 controller needs to be wired identically to input X on P2.

                  Another possible way:
I deleted the lines concerning the "retropie options" in es_systems.cfg completely to get rid of it in emulationstation.
I am used to open "retropie_setup.sh" and/or "raspi-config" in the terminal and never used the configuration options within ES anyway.

This is using MAME (libretro). The Xin Mo board has pins divided into two groups labelled "p0" and "p1", corresponding to players 1 and 2, respectively. I started a fresh install and reconfigured things.

It's close to working but it's not quite there. When I tried Street Fighter 2, two of player 2's buttons didn't work, even though they were readily recognized during configuration.

The wiring should be identical. So, is there just one controller-configuration for both players, using this method? I assumed I could treat them as separate but that doesn't seem to work.

No, that is about this issue:

                      1. In kiosk mode, a user can still hit left/right and get into settings. I want to disable that.

When you delete the whole entry of the options-menu in the es_systems.cfg it wont appear again anywhere: not in Kiosk-Mode, not in Kids-Mode and even not in normal mode.

When using the Libretro (RetroArch) input configuration, then yes, you can't have different auto-configs for each player. You can, however, using either a core input remap to change the mapping or use the MAME input configuration, which can be accessed by pressing Tab (you'll need a keyboard for this).
