Have to switch my RPi 4 on twice for it to work
-
Hi
Bit of a strange one but every time I switch my Raspberry Pi 4 on I have to turn it off and on again for it to work. When I switch it on initially I get the rainbow band over the screen but then it just stays black and then I literally switch it off and on and again and it functions as normal. It's hardly devastating but a bit annoying. It do currently have it overclocked (not sure to which figures) . Also I'm not using an official Pi power pack so perhaps that's a factor?
Feels like I have to switch it on once to warm it up for a few seconds. They off and on again for it to work. Any ideas on why this happens?
many thanks

@hawkes_84 is the green LED light on your pi still flickering while the screen is black? Can you confirm that your TV isnt automatically switching inputs during the boot process?
-
@quicksilver switching inputs? From what to what? I check if the green light is flickering next time. I know it's being recognised because my TV actually says "raspberry Pi" in the corner

I get the same problem, the green light is on solid and I'm making sure it's set to the right input on my tv
-
@Meatjunk so what exactly is the issue and how is it rectified?

For whatever reason, my Vizio TV will sometimes switch inputs automatically to another HDMI input while my pi is booting and I have to switch it back to the correct one. I'm not sure why it happens but it sounded similar to your issue.

@quicksilver surely switching inputs means it receives a signal from a different HDMI cable etc?
I'm not sure this has happened since the channel it's on remains the same and surely to rectify I would just switch it back to the correct channel?

@quicksilver Just tried it again and only the red light comes on the first time i turn it on - not the green light. The green light comes on the 2nd time

Can you post the info requested here? It will help to troubleshoot your issue. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
Also may want to take a look at this post. Specifically the pi 4 section.
