    Pi Model: 4
    Power Supply used: official Pi4
    RetroPie Version Used: 4.6.1
    Built From: retropie-buster-4.6-rpi4.img
USB Devices connected: 64gb thumb drive
    Controller used: M30 8bitdo
    Error messages received: none
    Emulator: none

I've installed Amiberry from both source and binary now, and even though I can select a different video mode, it does nothing, and the current video mode is used.
Also, on the runcommand menu, there's no netplay or verbose log options.
I'm using .lha files, and the kick-starts are correct (games run).

@stevas there's no verbose mode or netplay as those are for retroarch emulators only. Please post the runcommand log. What mode are you trying to switch to?

        Hey BuZz.

Any tbh. None seem to work. And I know at least one is fine, as I've set the pi itself to it. I.e. I've set the pi to 720@60 and I get the same behaviour: it'll stay on that when I try to force another (but I can't switch to it from, say, already being on a 1080 one). The video mode is being saved in video modes btw.

What does amiberry use with the referenced RETROARCH.cfg file?

@stevas controller mapping. Please send me a copy of your videomodes.cfg file.

            @BuZz
            Pastebin.com/raw/EEvBwvcp

Sorry, I just realised you asked for the log earlier:
            Pastebin.com/raw/xjswCxxw

I'm assuming the small retroarch.cfg in the same folder doesn't get created/used for amiberry?

Also, I have this in my es_systems.cfg
            Pastebin.com/raw/yhYi6B9U

            Many thanks for the help!

            Edit:
Also, if it's just using that for controller mapping... What am I setting that amiberry path to autoconfig for? Cos I thought THAT was for controller mapping? Sorry, I'm just trying to understand what's going here.

@stevas please can you post the output of these commands - exit emulation station with f4 or SSH in

              uname -a
              dpkg -s libsdl2-dev

              Have you tried different modes?

Please can you also run this and upload the modetest.log to a pastebin site or so.

              /opt/retropie/supplementary/mesa-drm/modetest >~/modetest.log

Logfile should be made in your home directory. Eg /home/pi

                @BuZz

                uname -a
                Linux retropie 4.19.118-v71+ #1311 SMP Mon Apr 27 14:26:42 BST 2020 armv71 GNU/Linux

                dpkg -s libsd12-dev
                Not installed?

Have I tried different modes of what? Video modes? If so, yes, I've tried several 720/1080 combos, i.e. having the pi set to one and attempting to get amiberry to switch to another.

                Modetest:

@stevas please use libsdL not libsdl1 (but lowercase).

Haha... Whew. Sorry about that. Clearly I need my glasses to do this...

Could someone explain to me why amiberry is seen as more plug and play compared to puae, and is the recommended emulator here? Everything I've thrown at puae (lha and hdf) seems to work, I get access to the lovely CRT shaders, and I'm probably going to have to mess about with config on a per game basis for either anyway? Amiberry seems way more of a pain in the arse on several levels, to me - and that's not even considering the strange resolution switching issue I'm getting.
I'm considering just binning it off and going with puae; am I going to regret that for some reason I've yet to experience?
