Black Screen after running through boot sequence
-
Hi all,
Strange one I moved my RasperryPi 4 from the living room to another room and plugged it in. Started it up it shows a square with multicolour in as usual then it runs through the black screens with white writing as it does no errors from what I can see. After that the screen goes black? And then nothing
Here's my es_log file
Here's my boot config file
It was working perfectly fine in the other room. If I have to format and start again how do I backup any save files from games?
If I remember rightly I was using retropie V4.6
Whats the first steps I should try? Thank you

You
config.txt
has hardcoded the video resolution. Comment the resolution lines and it should work.#hdmi_group=2 #hdmi_mode=58
-
@mitu thank you for the response. I commented out those lines and saved (CTRL+O then CTRL+A) exited and rebooted the pi now the screen is tiny and in the top left corner of the TV but same problem still a black screen after seeing all the white writing run by?
-
What is the native resolution on your TV ? If it's not properly detected, you may have to use
raspi-config
to force it. -
I'm not entirely sure. It's a Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/kdl-40w2000/specifications
It's what all the other consoles of the house are connected to such as the PS4.
Seems weird

Any more thoughts on this? I'm still no further along :(

Your link says:
Display Resolution
1920 x 1080
See Show and set the current video mode about how to change video modes on the fly to find the correct one.
-
@Clyde seems non of those video modes are working even changing them on the fly nothing is displaying on the TV I'm at a loss here
Any other ideas?
-
Seems I've sussed it.
I set the Boot/config back to default
Ran rasp-config and set the resolution through that.
Phew
