My arcade cabinet has 2 sets of gpio sticks and buttons that were set up using GPIOnext. In the menu and most emulators they work perfectly. However, only in lr-mame2003 the second player controller does not work. 2 out of the 8 buttons work but the other 6 and the stick do nothing. I tried updating the retroarch autoconfig but that didn't help. Other retroarch mame emulators like mame2000 or mameforall work just fine, but mame2003 is supposed to be the prefered emulator for raspberry pi 3b+ as it is the most compatible. I've read through the documentation and forum posts and can't find anything that has worked.

Is there something I did wrong? Should I set up the GPIO controllers in something other than GPIOnext? Is there an extra step to set up player 2 for lr-mame2003? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
