For those of you using real Nintendo SNES controllers with your project, what USB adapter are you using? I was going to try to connect mine via GPIO but that's appearing impossible due to me also running a secondary screen on GPIO on some of the same pins. As I've searched around I've seen that some USB adapters seem to work better than others. I'm not concerned about looks as I'll be taking it apart and connecting it to the actual controller ports on my Super Famicom, but I don't want an adapter that doesn't work reliably. Are there any to stay away from?

Searching online this afternoon shows that a lot of people seem to have trouble with the low price Mayflash adapter. Raphnet Technologies BRD-4NES4SNES seems to not only work better, but the site expressly discusses use with RetroPie and even has addressed some of the issues people have encountered when using with RetroPie. I just ordered one and it should be here in a week or two.
