lr-daphne not working after rpi-update
-
Pi Model or other hardware: Pi4 4gb
Power Supply used: Pi Standard
RetroPie Version Used: 4.6
Built From: RetroPie website imageI ran "sudo rpi-update" a couple of weeks ago in order to try standalone KMS as I heard there were some N64 performance gains possibly.
Now, none of my lr-daphne games boot up. They just freeze on the RunCommand pop-up, or to a blank screen if I go through RunCommand and then launch.
The log is here : https://pastebin.com/s209zzvv
I don't mind going back to the previous KMS driver, I just don't know how to do that. I will take this as a lesson not to mess about with things I don't understand (probably)....

lr-daphne
is not part of the RetroPie repository. -

is not part of the RetroPie repository.Does that mean it is unsupported?
Could you just advise how to go back to the previous video driver settings please?
My splash screens are also broken, so there is a supported feature that this has affected!
Edit: I know I shouldn't have done rpi-update and I really regret it.

Yes. Do you expect support for any experimental emulator installed outside of RetroPie ?
Could you just advise how to go back to the previous video driver settings please?
Revert the settings you modified to get the KMS driver enabled.

Of course it's not working, you've changed the settings of your GPU drivers and this is one - of the many - things that are not supported in this configuration.

@mitu Could you just point me to where I should be looking for those settings? I have an old backup before I did this, that I could cross-check against. I just don't even know where those video settings would be.
Or is there a different type of update that would bring those settings back to the image version?
I am really sorry to press, I am. I'm sorry I did this, I had doubts in my mind when I did but I really wanted to play Perfect Dark at as high performance as it could be. I got greedy when I was happy with my system and I shouldn't have tried this.
Thank you very much for your time (I'd sincerely donate if there was a donation page - this forum has been a lifesaver for me for months).

They're in
/boot/config.txt
, if you don't remember. You'll need to re-enable thefkms
overlay:... [pi4] # Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d max_framebuffers=2
I'd sincerely donate if there was a donation page
Don't know what to say here, the donation link is in the footer of every forum page and also prominently featured in the RetroPie site menu.

I 100% didn't remember, and would have sworn that I had done nothing manual, any changes having been done by the rpi-update. Now that you mention that, I remember. I've changed it and it's worked and I'm so grateful. Maybe I will start taking notes on what I change so this kind of idiocy doesn't occur again.

I always go straight into the forums and don't look at the footer. I see it now, and I'll put some money in as soon as I turn my laptop on in the morning. Thanks for all the work you and the team do.
Edit: Done! Thanks again.

Seems that way, doesn't it? 😛
I'll sort it out in the morning.
