@Folly Try Chourensha. It's in the same league as Blazing Lazers or Gradius 2 for me. So much fun.
You might also be interested in the X68000's predecessor, the X1, if only historically.
Yep, seems a great game. It wasn't too much trouble to set up either! Let me know if you find any other games, ideally exclusive ones rather than Arcade conversions. I'll have a look about as well. I've got some other games - Aquales and SD Fighters, but haven't played them yet.
-
@AdamBeGood You can try Geograph Seal and Xanadu (the remake is exclusive). I'll look for more later today!

Thanks again! This is a great find!

These Gradius versions looking better than the MSX versions. Of course the were MSX1. And castlevania is also impressive.
Can't seem to get Nemesis 90 working. Will try that later on.
-
@Folly Nemesis will require you to load both discs on launch and reset. Let me know when you get it to work,it's a great game (but hard as hell)
-
Nice indeed !

And just think... This machine was released in... 1987.
So the japanese were playing this while we were stuck on the NES and Master System.
I'm feeling jealous ^^

Indeed very impressive for that time.
Well we had our Amiga500 a few year later on :), That was nice too. -
@Folly I'll confess that although I've had a full .lha rom set for years I've never really played an Amiga.
Western computers don't exert the same sort of fascination I have for Japanese computers.
Speaking of if you're looking for a great shmup... try Rude Breaker on PC98 ;) -

Well I must admit, altough the Amiga has perfect gfx and sound for those days. The games were not like the MSX. Indeed the japanese games are more fun !

@Folly I think it goes beyond fun. I will often play through a big chunk of Gradius 1 on the Sharp X1, despite the fact that it's arguably worse than the MSX rendition, and that I have at least a dozen versions of the game that are ten times superior. Don't get me wrong, it's Gradius, it's always going to be fun, but while playing on such an obscure and strange machine it's got a different vibe, it's hard to explain!
-
Will try that X1 too. Thanks for your suggestion.

@AdamBeGood @Folly Just found this awesome game for the X68000 :
It's very hard to find, and you'll need to use a piece of software called Virtual Floppy Image Converter to convert your file into .dim, but it's great fun. It's as fast as Chourensha but it plays like Rude Breaker horizontally.

I don't mind but we are drifting away from the topic.
About our topic. Actually it might be the case that the "sdsnatcher" module needs a specific rom. I saw the name "swm.rom". I think i was called that way. SWM could be short for SoftWareModule.
Will try this out when I have the time. -
@Folly Maybe we should have an 'Old Japanese Computer Games Appreciation Thread' ^^
That makes sense about bluemsx, so you think what hasn't been integrated are the rooms themselves? That would make sense considering the legality of it.

Good Idea to make a new topic !
Will try these roms if it will help.

@Folly Oh. I converted it because the documentation clearly stated lr-px68k only read .dim and .m3u well.
Good to know it works.
I'll write up a thread tonight! -

I'll write up a thread tonight!I run my files directly from the Desktop with my own script. So I am not bounded by extensions. If you run it from emulationstation .xdf is not there in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg . So you have to add that.
<path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/x68000</path> <extension>.dim .hdf .hdm .2hd .d88 .m3u .DIM .HDF .HDM .2HD .D88 .M3U</extension>

@Folly Adding it will make it appear in ES sure, but how could I check to see that the emulator is capable of using those files?
