@adambegood You mean PC98?

100% I do. Sorry, so many new systems coming at me.
I have a problem. The C key should power up, in a Gradius style but it doesn't work for me.
-
@adambegood Ah yes I noticed that earlier. Have you tried mapping C to something else?
-
@zering How do I map in this one, is there a config file?
-
@adambegood I'm pretty sure you can map input in Settings > Input.
That's generally my first step with iffy controls. -
@zering I never knew! I always go to Controls and it didn't seem to be an option there.
-
@adambegood I think the Input section overrides the Controls section in the quick menu.
Any luck with C? -

Any luck with C?Hmmm okay. Still no joy as yet, I am not sure how to proceed. I've spent too much time on this now, my child will be awake soon! I'll try Rusty and come back to this
Edit: Also is your sound jumpy? The C key thing is irritating, I don't think I will get far in the game without power ups. Must be a way around it.
-
@adambegood I've only played the game for a few minutes the other day while trying to help you sort out your .hdi issues, I haven't noticed any sound jumpiness though. Are you sure you've set the game to the right CPU Clock Multiplier? 10 did it for me on this one.
I'll look into the controls in a bit, I'm having my daily SD Snatcher session. I think I'm close to the end.

Ooo you're going great guns on that!
I've got it a bit higher than that, it is just the music is a little bit choppy. See if you noticed when you get to it.
-
@adambegood The thing is if you set the CPUCM too high, it may result in slowdown and sound choppiness. You have to adjust for each game. Try 10 and see if there's any change. I just need to get back to JUNKER H.Q so I can save and quit before I try Night Slave again.
I am enjoying SD Snatcher a great deal indeed, although it's not without tedium (which is to be expected from an 8-bit RPG). The gameplay loop is addictive and I think the presentation is simply stunning ; i dare say it's the best looking and sounding game I've seen on the MSX2 along with Space Manbow.

I will play SD Snatcher soon, sounds so good!
I'll move that setting back down a bit, you are probably right..
12 CPU, 16 RAM.. runs like a dream. Apart from the C thang.
-
@adambegood Haha told you! ^^
I'll look into the C thing in a short bit. -

I'll look into the C thing in a short bit.I wouldn't mind if it worked on my keyboard, I would just press it there. Not ideal but I don't really mind.
On Rusty, jump and attack use special. Maybe worth checking that doesn't work for Night Slave. Long shot though.
-
@adambegood I don't understand what you mean about Rusty?

Jump and Attack pressed together use the special items.
-
@adambegood Figured out the C Issue. For this game, set your Joypad D-Pad to Mouse/Keyboard/Joypad Mapping to Arrow 3Button. Edit : Or is it Keypad 3-button? One of those two work.
Can I just say how much I adore the graphics on this system? That extra resolution is just gorgeous (same for the PC88 to a lesser extent).

Hi,
Was a bit curious if I was able to translate japanese text from a screenshot of a game.
( how are you translating @AdamBeGood ? )Isolated the text > online OCR > online translator :
Isolated the text > tesseract OCR (open source) > online translator :
I was thinking, should it be possible to "under title" a game with translations this way.
I read about patches, but these are not made for all games.
-
@folly There are quite a few games on the PC98 that have been translated thankfully, but if your idea worked that'd be pretty amazing.

Yes, I saw many for the PC98 (also the patches).
Well perhaps I will do some more tests. Would be an extremely nice feature in Retropie if this could be done. :)
