How can i install/use a different core?
-
have you tried a different rom ?
my version is Rayman (USA) and it works fine, and is fully playable using lr-pcsx-rearmed
-
i was kinda hoping i could gift the retropie to my kids, and they can't rly speak english yet. i know the game doesnt contain much text but if there is another solution than just using the US version id prefer that.
-
ok, i understand.
i just tried Rayman (USA) using lr-beetle-psx (found under Experimental Packages) and it runs terrible.
Gonna test a Europe version of Rayman and see how it goes ... will be back in 5 mins with the results

@dreamcastkid
thx but i srsly got no lr-beetle-psx in experimental packages...
i only got beetle-pcfx and -saturn. and im connected to the internet if that changes anything. -

lr-beetle-psx
is not enabled on the Pi or other SBC platform, is too slow to be usable. It's only enabled on the PC platform. -
@mitu ok thank you.
i guess there is nothing i can do about my problem then? -
@adarkar Do you have the proper BIOS files for PSX copied to the BIOS folder ?
-
@mitu i have SCPH1001 but i will try using different ones
-
Just tested Rayman (Europe) and it works fine ... i am able to select language (English, French or German) and the game gets past the Ubisoft logo and am able to play the game using lr-pcsx-rearmed ... runs perfect too :)
Tested the game with Use BIOS = auto & Use BIOS = HLE ... both run fine.
Try BIOS = HLE ... if the game still doesn't work, it's most probably your Rom.
-
@dreamcastkid thx for testing! what bios did you use and im sorry ask, but what is HLE?
-
HLE (High-level emulation) is lr-pcsx-rearmed built-in emulated BIOS
and here's the Sony PSX BIOS files i have .. which the Use BIOS=auto looks for
-
@dreamcastkid thx! not using the SCPH1001 bios did the trick.
