      That would indicate that the windows was un-focused after start. What window manager are you using on Ubuntu ?

        @mitu It is the standard Ubuntu 20.10 window manager. I have not changed anything, it is a fresh install. Just a couple of days old.

          @brutalizer i have same problems

          1. FRESH ubuntu 20.10 instalation
          2. Fresh RETROPIE install
          3. all emu start PAUSED and i can't Unpaused....

            @brutalizer I FOUND THE PROBLEM....

            just we need press on MOUSSE button to put FOCUS on EMULATOR.

            now the question is.... HOW can solve that? Im testing the system to use with ARCADE machine, i can't use mouse in the future.

              @donpablito Maybe this pause problem is only with Ubuntu PC. You are using Ubuntu PC, right?

                @donpablito Ubuntu's desktop environment is called GNOME. It has three possible modes of window focusing: Click to Focus, Focus on Hover, and Secondary-Click.

                You can change them in the supplemental tool GNOME Tweaks and see if one of them helps you with your problem. See these links how to install GNOME Tweaks graphically or in the command line. The latter link also shows you where the focus setting is located in the tool, and what exactly the three modes are doing.
