    So i just updated my retropie from stretch to buster and now retropie wont run at an overclock of 1.57. Retropie will crash at random points with any overclock I throw at it now. it worked before I updated and was 100%fine.

      @chaosgamingx overclocks are not guaranteed. changes to the firmware can change the power management of the chip, which could affect things.

              @chaosgamingx Not sure if those dirty upgrades are supported. Try again on a clean install of retropie 4.7.1 and also update the firmware.
