      Hello,

I am trying to play Sega CD games, and I get a black screen after the loading screen where it asks you to press Start to start the game, then I see Sonic. I am not getting kicked back to the game selection screen; I am able to get back to the main ES menu with the hot keys. I have the correct file name for the BIOS file in the BIOS folder (bios_CD_U.bin). I started digging into the opt/retropie/configs/segacd/retroarch.cfg file only has the three lines in the attached picture. Is this correct? Do I need to manually define where the BIOS file is? Is this normal?

Yes, it's correct - this is what the file looks like on a normal installation.
What emulator are you running ? Please add more info about the game/emulator/system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu Sorry for not including more information, and not reading the !! READ THIS FIRST !! post...I have tried with 10 different games which have a bin/cue combination, and I have confirmed that when opening the cue file for all corresponding games that I have tried match the bin file name. Below are the specs listed out of what I am using as far as hardware, version number, etc. I did not read about the verbose log before, so I'll try turning that on when I have time to see what files are being accessed when Sega CD boots and tries to load a game. Also, part of the reason I was asking about the three lines in the retroarch.cfg file is because I have seen a few people mention that you need to change the system_directory line to read /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS. Since that does not exist I obviously cannot try that.

          Pi Model: 3 B+
Power Supply used: CannaKit 2.5 A power supply
          RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
Controller used: 8bitdo SF 30 Pro
          Emulator: lr-picodrive and lr-genesis-plus-gx

The BIOS folder is set in the manl configuration file, included at the bottom of the file you referenced. You don't need to set it yourself, it's already configured.

What particular game are you having issues with ? I see you're using the .cue/.bin format for the games, so far it's pretty standard.

@mitu Isn't the include line commented out because there is a # in front of the line (I'm still very new to Linux)? Also, I have had an issue with (all US versions):

              Double Switch
Flashback - the Quest For Identity
              Hook
              Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
              Mickey Mania
              Night Trap
              Pitfall - They Mayan Adventure
              Sonic CD
              Star Wars Chess
              Terminator

                No, when it's #include, that's not a comment.

@chimera111x a verbose log may be helpful.

@dankcushions That is what I was thinking. I will have to do that later today (Central time zone in the US here), so we'll probably have to continue this tomorrow. Thank you both for the help so far!

@dankcushions and @mitu I deleted my roms, and uploaded them using a USB drive creating a retropie directory, and everything is working now. I'm not sure what the difference between using SFTP and the USB drive is, but it's working now. Thank you for your help, and have a great day!
