Pi Model: 4B 1GB
Power Supply used: Official Raspberry Pi Power Supply
RetroPie Version Used: retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400
Built From: retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img downloaded from the Retropie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard.
Controller used: N64 Controller - Generic, "Switch Co Ltd."
Error messages received: None
Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide): N/A
File: (File with issue - with FULL path): N/A
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable): Emulator Station / Mame
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS): N/A
How to replicate the problem: On my system, restart Emulator Station (or reboot the Pi)The issue: Games Collections, Favourites, Last Used, Custom Collections are not saved if Emulator Station is restarted (or the Pi is rebooted). Also in the Emulation Station Menu, Game Collection Settings, Automatic Game Collections and Custom Game Collections are reset to have all options deselected after Emulation Station Restarts (or the Pi is rebooted).
This is a brand new install. I am new to Retropie. Games are working fine.
I have looked for help on the forum, and although others have had an issue with favourites not being saved, I could not find a solution in the other threads.
The file ~/.emulationstation/es_log.txt is empty
In the Emulation Station Menu, Other Settings, Save Metadata is set to <On Exit>
All my roms are saved in ~/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/
There is no gamelist.xml file in ~/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/
In ~/.emulationstation/gamelists/ there is a single directory: retropie/
In there is a gameslist.xml file there:
~/.emulationstation/gamelists/retropie/gamelist.xmlAny help would be much appreciated.

oops! Nope - the SD Card is full! I am waiting for a higher capacity card to arrive... in the meantime is will make some space on the card, try again, and report back here.

@mitu
Thank you! that was the problem The SD card was full like 100% full!. I free-ed up some space and my favourites etc, are being saved. I tested restarting emulation station and re-booting the Pie. All working fine now.I feel like a fool! Thank you for your help.
Not a complaint, but a request: it might be nice to get a big fat warning if settings cannot be saved due to no SD card space. But from now on I will make sure to leave some space on the SD card.
