MAME tab menu wont go away
-
I couldn't find a solution online so here's my dilemma. I'm using lr-mame-2003 in arcade folder for roms on pi 3b+. The tab menu appears on startup when i start any mame game and won't go away, making the games unplayable. The controller is able to input into the game there is just a huge menu in the way. The keyboard does work and i can navigate within the tab menu itself. The tab key nor the esc key will allow me to exit. I'd like to just have the menu pop up as needed when i hit tab. I have tried the following:
1.) deleting all cfg files in the appropriate folder
2.) reinstalling mame 2003 emulator from sourceNothing worked so far...
please help. -
Please add more info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
By default, the Mame menu shows up when hitting Tab and can also be hidden with Tab. Did you change any options in RetroArch/Mame to have this issue ?
-
@mitu Yeah it used to work that way for me. i don't know which version of retropie i have. I think it was working until I transferred my image to a new sd card. I didn't change any options in RetroArch/Mame, should I?

@mitu I just realized it is only a problem for the lr-mame-2003 emulator

@90sgamer you can try deleting the mame controller configuration (default.cfg, and any other per-game ones) via https://retropie.org.uk/docs/lr-mame2003/#mame-menu - maybe it's currently bound to something you're pressing frequently/immediately.
the other option is to check the core options - later versions of mame2003 supported turning the menu on via a core option, so perhaps this has been stuck 'on' somehow? if you find it, you could turn it off and see if that helps.

@dankcushions Oh i got it, the menu was turned on in core options. I dont know why i didnt think of that. Thanks!
