Mame2003 Input Multi-Binding Fix
-
So I had this issues that my Mame2003 controls got messed up and started mapping multiple input buttons into the analog joysticks for my arcade controls. So for example right would be right and A which means that right wouldn't work and your character would take one step and attack or jump or something like that.
I saw a few other people with the same issue and after some looking around I figured it out. You have go into RGUI and into options and turn Map right analog stick as buttons to OFF and change input interface from simultaneous to retropad in my case. Then scroll to the top and select save game options file then resume and then you can map the Mame2003 input options in game without any issues.
I still have no clue why this changed or what happened so if anyone has an idea I am all ears. The last thing I did was set PS1 controls up in RGUI so maybe I did something but this fixed it for me. Unfortunately I seem to need to do it per game but it works.

@bswin821 analog inputs are not supported in mame2003. In order to use the analog stick at all you have to enable "analog to digital type" in retroarch under the quick menu-> controls-> port1 controls-> analog to digital type (set to left stick, right stick or none) This allows the selected analog stick to emulate the dpad.
The core option to "map right analog stick as buttons" allows the right stick to emulate a, b, x, and y. I find this useful for mapping dual joystick games.
I suspect you have a blend of these two options enabled causing issues.
For mame2003, I'd recommend setting "analog to digital type" to left. Then turning the core option "map right analog stick as buttons" on.

@mahoneyt944 actually some games in mame2003 support analog! eg afterburner, outun. but yes, to use analog in games that have native digital controls, you need to use the retroarch 'analog to digital' option (although i would instead recommend setting via the configuration editor as RGUI meddling can be dangerous).
but note that if you enable it globally for the lr-mame2003, you will lose analog controls in natively analog games (although that's only a handful).
