Saving per game settings in retroarch?
-
Hello, firstly I have searched and read a few threads but they all seem to end up in command line configuartions, please if you can answer this question without making me go into command line I would appreciate it :-). Ok so I'm in a game and the aspect ratio is wrong so I open retroarch with select+x, find aspect ratio and change it. Now how do I save those changes so next time I load the game the aspect ratio will be correct? Because Everything I've tried so far that says save on it hasn't worked. I'm sure its something simple but I just haven't got it right yet.
Oh I should say I'm on a Raspberry pi 3 with latest verion of retropie installed ( 4.02 )
Any help appreciated

@kevlar chances are your problem can be solved by using the right emulator, as some are better with aspect ratios than others. but other than that, look for the 'same game override' option, and use it after you've made your change.
i will try and document this properly at some point.

Thanks for the reply, I'm using fba-next. Playing around just now I managed to save a config and exit back to the game or back to the rom list menu but on next boot of that game the config doesn't automatically load. Going back into retroarch I can load the saved config but can't then exit back to the game for some reason, only back to the rom list menu so back to square 1.

@kevlar saving configs is not the same as saving overrides, but this functionality might not be in your version of retroarch. i will look into documenting it fully later.
currently, the documented way to do per-game configs is https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/retroarch-configuration#hardcoded-configurations
none of these are done within the retroarch menu, which is why i'd like to get my previous suggestion documented. -
Update...I managed to sort this problem, firstly by selecting ' core provided ' as the aspect ratio option. Then under configuration set the following settings ..
Save configuration on exit ON
Configuration per core OFF
Use per game core option ON
Load overide files automatically OFF
Load remap files automatically ONNow each game seems to automatically load in its correct aspect ratio.
Thanks for the help.
