Looking to have a NES controller (D-Pad, Select/Start, B/A) have a hotkey of Select, but then a SNES type controller (ABXY, triggers, D-Pad, Select/Start) use a different hotkey button of Right Trigger.

Right now, I have successfully got the Emulator cfg set up to accept the SNES controller of Right Trigger as a hotkey only on NES, but that means the NES controller no longer has a hotkey.

      Thoughts?

The goal is to play with the NES controller whenever/whoever wants and have the hotkey be select, but when I play, I want the SNES controller for NES, but I want the hot key of right trigger.

Would love to know some folks' thoughts!

Hotkey is set during initial controller configuration. You should be able to have a different one for every (type of) controller you use. Configure additional controllers through the EmulationStation start menu.

Edit: oh but I guess you want to do this only for NES, so the shoulder button still works when using the SNES controller for SNES games... maybe not so simple then. The docs do say that hardcoded configurations are "locked to a specific core and controller," but in the example they give, I don't see anything that does tie it to a specific controller.
