      Raspberry Pi 4B with official power supply
      Retropie 4.7.1 downloaded from official site. (retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img.gz)

      Hi,

      Due to my setup, I have had to manually edit the retroarch.cfg file to correct some buttons. I updated recently and that no longer seems to work for some systems.

      For example, I just went into /opt/retrpie/configs/segacd/retroarch.cfg to change the button for player 2 start, and it didn't work in game. I have done this for all the other systems in the past and it worked fine.

      I changed save config on exit to on and tried changing some buttons. when I came out and looked at the retroarch.cfg file, it had not been saved since I made the manually changes previously. Has the config file it is using changed? Different location?

      Sorry, forgot to say, I'm using lr-genesis-plus-gx

      Many thanks

        @fadangalini please supply a verbose log as per https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - you likely have overrides in play

          The /home/pi/.config/retroarch/config/Genesis Plus GX/AH-3 Thunderstrike (USA).cfg is here:

          input_overlay = "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay/GameBezels/SegaCD/AH-3 Thunderstrike (USA).cfg"

          I can't see where the controls are being saved to?

            @fadangalini to be honest manually changing the files is not recommended. you should bind your default during https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/#configure-controllers, then any overrides for specific consoles via https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#core-input-remapping

            /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg is here:
            https://pastebin.com/embed_iframe/YyUgG611

            this isn't a verbose log.
