Skyscraper not finding some resources on Mobygames
-
Hi,
I just dug into some Dosbox/Win 3.11 emulation and installed some pretty cool games. One of those is CivNet.
Somehow Skyscraper is not able to find this entry on Mobygames at all. If I--query
for "CivNet" there is nothing returned. If I--query
for something broader like "Sid Meier's" I get many results but not the CivNet one. There is something similar for Deja Vu goinng on: here Skyscraper scrapes only the DOS art (which is CGA) and not the win 3.11 art.
So I would assume that Skyscraper cannot find the
Windows 3.x
but only plainWindows
entrys. Is it possible to let Skyscraper include those entrys, too?

@ecto I've looked into this a bit, and I think I know why this happens. Skyscraper needs all aliases for a platform to accept the entry as valid data. And currecntly the Mobygames platform for 'pc' does not have the 'Windows 3.x' as an alias.
I will add this, which should fix the problem. I'll get back to you when I've tested it.

@ecto Skyscraper 3.6.14 out now where this is fixed. Tested with an empty files called 'civnet.bat' and it worked just fine and found it as "Sid Meier's CivNet".
If you have named you file similarly, remember to also set
-m 0
. Otherwise the title match will be too low and it will be excluded because of that. -
@muldjord Thank you for this quick fix! I will try this asap.
I was always using--flags interactive
for problematic scrapes, but I will try with-m 0
which sounds easier. Thanks again! -
@ecto You're welcome.
-m 0
is easier, but I would probably still recommend interactive mode if you're just scraping a small number of files since-m 0
has the potential to let faulty data slip through the cracks. -
@muldjord I just tried it and it works as promised. Thanks again!
