      Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4 B+ 8GB
      Power Supply used: Official Pi Supply
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.19
      Built From: Raspberry Pi Imager
      USB Devices connected: None
      Controller used: 8bitdo SN30 Pro+
      Error messages received: None
      Emulator: All
      Attachment of config files: retroarch.cfg https://pastebin.com/uDMVcZUt

      How to replicate the problem: Start recording or streaming from any emulator/quick menu.

      I've input my twitch streaming key into the retroarch settings from the retropie menu, and set the quality to low for both recording and video. All emulators are unplayable (sloooooowwwww), but when viewing recorded videos, or twitch stream (it's a bit stop-and-start) it is completely normal.

        Anyone with ideas?

        Is it even possible to stream off a Rpi4?

        Thanks

          I haven't tried streaming, but I didn't notice recording slowing down a game to make it unplayable. Granted, I've only tried it with 16bit or arcade systems.

          Which emulator are you using to record/stream ? You may have to tune the configuration for recording/streaming (see for instance this post).

            @stygarfield
            your retroarch.cfg file is non-default so fairly impossiple to diagnose. i see a number of non-default options that will negatively affect performance:

            menu_driver = "ozone"
            video_threaded = "false"

            you should also provide a verbose log.

              @dankcushions Huh, I don't recall modifying any of those settings. I'll try a fresh install and see if that fixes things!
