Can't transfer save files (SRAM) between N64 emulators
-
Hi,
I've been using Glupen to play some Ocarina of Time.
There's a house in the starting village that causes the emulator to screw up when entering (whole screen goes broken mess of colours)
So I want to try my save game with another emulator.
I can see the save files in /roms/n64 folder:
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.0) [b1].sra
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time.n64
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time.srmIf I run the ROM with mupen64Plus for example, it acts as if it's a fresh start (doesn't have my saved game to load)
Meanwhile this is mupen64plus.cfg:
SaveSRAMPath = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64"So it appears it should work, any ideas?
Ps. why is the .sra filename different?
Cheers

Although the save location is the same, it doesn't mean they are compatible. If they do not work, I would assume they are not due to core mupen64 differences etc. However, I don't actually know. Could also be filename related.

I can imagine that save states wouldn't be compatible across emulators, but wouldn't saved sram be since its meant to resemble the original console data?

Might have a custom header etc. Speculating. Maybe someone else has a definitive answer.

Yeah I'm hoping someone does.. Cause even if they're incompatible, where is mupen64's .srm file? It's not overwriting the one already there created by glupen

Perhaps the .sra file is made by one emulator and .srm by the other..I'll have to check tomorrow
