            Note concerning Achievements Sounds.
Even if you activate them in RA it is not played because it is not there.
You have to create the folder "sounds" in "opt/configs/all/retroarch/assets/" and copy a sound of your choice in there.
I am using the Playstation-Trophy-Jingle named "unlock.ogg" and it works great now.

UPDATE: since the update to 4.7.16 the retroachievement-sounds are broken on my system.
As soon as a achievement pops up the sound changes to annoying static noise.
I disabled the sounds for the moment, i dont think we can do something about it, i guess it is an issue concerning RA.

Strange, as RetroArch hasn't been updated recently - it's the same version as 1 month ago (v1.9.5)

@mitu that is what i thought too.
In the end the achievement-sounds did work for sure at the beginning.
I am not sure anymore...was my first attempt based on RA1.9.4 or RA1.9.5?
I also had the idea that my chosen sound has got corrupted somehow, i will try to change it to the default one offered by RA in the evening.
Did not change anything relevant on my setup (audio output or mixer), i just keep up updating daily if an update is available for my installed cores and emulators.

@sirhenrythe5th did you find a solution to the white noise sound in the end? I'm finding it on 4.7.19 when using a retroflag gpi

Edit: nevermind I updated to 1.9.9 RetroArch and it's fixed

                    @retropieuser555 nice to hear!
I wait until retroarch 1.9.9 / 1.9.14 is supported by retropie.
                    Proper achievement-sounds + PSP-achievements will be awesome :D

@sirhenrythe5th fwiw I just edited the script module file to 1.9.9 and it compiled from source ok. It doesn't work for 1.9.14 (the most recent RetroArch). Also don't use 1.9.8, that has a bug where instead of the static sound when RetroArch goes to play the .ogg file it just crashes.

Only issue with psp achievements is you'll need a better machine than a pi4 to run the lr-ppsspp at a decent speed (for the 3d open world/resource intensive games anyway)

Edit:- somewhat off topic but I just realised I could make copies of the assets directory and change the unlock file so I could have system specific unlock sounds. Might look into that, find a classic sound effect from each system to use

@retropieuser555 i only use lr-ppsspp and i can play most of the games without issues, the usage of alsathread gave a significant boost.
Of course there are limits, i.e God of War, but ppsspp-standalone struggles with it also.
And at least the achievements are a reason to stay with lr-ppsspp ;)

@sirhenrythe5th oh I agree, I like the achievements as a function. I'll have to experiment with alsathread and see if it bumps up abit of speed on the lr-ppsspp, as it seems pretty slow to me even on simple 2d games like retro city rampage

@retropieuser555 when i started with PSP it was as you said, standalone was so much faster, but i did not want a seperate GUI within retropie.
So i used lr-ppsspp with a handful of games that worked fine, of course those where the ones which did not require a lot of performance (Angry Birds, Peggle etc.)

With the change to alsathread the situation is a complete other one.
Without overclocking and even with shaders i can play nearly everything.
Burnout, Monster Hunter, Tony Hawk,...i dont know the excact FPS, but the games are absolutely playable :)
