      I am at my wits end, I can't change the resolution of my rp4 8gb from 4k. I have a Samsung 4k tv. I change the resolution to 1080p and when it reboots it looks like it is in that screen mode then switches back to 4k but the text is in a small box in the top left hand corner. I have even manually edited /boot/config.txt to force the resolution but it just doesn't work. I have also tried putting the hdmi into another socket but that doesn't work. Also emulationtation doesn't load and you have to press f4 to get back to command prompt to run sudo raspi-config. In have watched every video known on YouTube and read loads of tutorials and they don't appear to work. I am at the point of going back to my rp3+ and sending the rp4 back. Never had any of this nonsense with the rp3. Running emulationstation in 4k runs like a turtle. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

        @stephenuk please provide the information requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, including your /boot/config.txt with your proposed resolution change in it.

            OK I was a bit silly I had the HDMI plugged into the one away from the USB C power port. I have edited the line in config.txt to hdmi_group=1
            hdmi_mode=16

            All working fine now 👌
