connect to tv and monitor
-
Hi,
Pi4b, latest retropie, official hdmi and psu.
TV and monitor next to the pi.
Sometimes I like to game on monitor
While family watch TV
And sometimes I like to game on TV.Is it possible to use a monitor and tv
connected to the pi.Not be used at the same time but to be plugged in at the same time so I dont have to unplug the hdmi cable from monitor when i want to play it on something bigger like my tv.
I know you need to use hdmi 0 so I am thinking that a splitter or something will be needed.
At present I have the pi plugged into a monitor and whenever i want to use it on my bigger tv I have to unplug the hdmi cable from the monitor and plug into the tv.
I would like to be able to shutdown the pi and turn off the monitor and then turn on the pi and the tv and then game on the tv, and vice versa.
Many Thanks

To use your TV as a computer monitor, all you have to do is connect them with an HDMI or DP cable. Then and make sure your TV is on the right input/source, and your computer's resolution is the same as your TV's. First, check that your computer and TV both have an HDMI or DP port
Totally not what he asked about and why are you answering this really old thread?
But, since an answer has been given it should be the right one, so:
@Simrose If you want to accomplish this you will need an HDMI splitter or an inline HDMI switch. I used to have an HDMI switch attached to my cable box so I could connect two TVs and switch between the two.
