I set up my retropie on my tv and my background music was playing while in emulation station. When I moved my pie into my arcade unit, I connected it to speakers via the 3.5mm jack. I changed the sound over to headphones in the start menu. I can hear clicks while scrolling through games and I can hear game audio. However, the background music will no longer play.

Is there another place I need to convert the sound to headphones?

@sleve_mcdichael how could I figure that out? I'm using an image of RetroPie from my friend and it the music was already set up

          Edit:
I have audio card to default and audio device to headphones under the start menu-sound. Omx player audio device is both. Under RetroPie -menu I changed audio to headphones. Also changed under raspi-config to headphones

Ask your friend, then. It is not practical for us to try and troubleshoot a system that neither you nor we have any idea how is configured. It is for this reason that third-party builds are not supported in any fashion.

@sleve_mcdichael ok, I was just making sure there wasn't somewhere obvious I was missing on handing fr HDMI to headphones. Or if there was a general location where this would typically be saved, such as in a config file somewhere. It may be easier for me to just install another separately from the beginning
