      Basics: Raspi 3B+, SD-Card flashed with Retropie for Pi3 via Raspberry Imager (20221204), official PSU, wired eth0 connection

      Yesterday I've encountered a strange (possible) bug that on a fresh and updated install, the load/save state functionallity for (all I've tested) lr-cores was gone/missing. On a second install, with ommiting the steps to set the locales to german via raspi-config [1] and in RetroPie-Setup selecting the "Basic Install" option [2] everything was fine.
      On a 3rd install now, checking the retroarch menu after each step taken, the load/save state functionallity was gone right after applying the "Basic Install" via the Setup Script.

      Steps Done:

      • flashing SD Card via Raspi Imager (Raspi 3) [Edit: +editing /boot/config.txt -> setting HDMI group/mode, overlays to disable bt and wifi]
      • booting/expanding FS/booting -> configure gamepad
      • raspi-config: setting password & hostname, set keyboard to ger, enable ssh
      • raspi-config: change locales do german (utf)
      • retropie-setup: Basic Install
      • ... no more savestates :/

      1: (which I had done in the past to be sure on time format, etc., somehow this was the 1st time it also changed the rgui language to german (which I absolutely don't want))
      2: (which previously I've done and got used to on all installs, even if it is uneeded on the premade images and really just there for manual installs)

        Make sure you updated the RetroPie-Setup script before updating RetroArch. The new version needs some extra files (core info), which are not downloaded if you're using an outdated RetroPie-Setup script.

          @mitu Thanks! Updating the script(S) and then doing the "Basic Install" (I) works... obviously a case of "Betriebsblindheit" on my behalf, as i was getting to used to it that in "Update" (U) the first step is to update the script. In fact I've really asked myself why there is the Option to update the Script and never noticed that it is not done for the "Basic Install".

          May I ask(/wonder) why update_packages_gui_setup() calls updatescript_setup(), but basic_install_setup() ain't doing that?

            @Ashpool said in rgui - load/save state option missing:

            Not sure I fully understand.
            Basic setup is meant for a new installation, which assumes you are doing a manual installation. This means you just cloned the RetroPie repository, so there's no need to update again the script.
