I've installed Retro Pie with some arcade buttons. However, when I configure one set of buttons, fine. When I configure the second set, strange things happen. The first set of buttons, which was working correctly, seem to change. For example, when I push the joystick left the on screen menu goes right, and right becomes left. So if I try to fix this set of buttons by re-configuring, the other set then inherits this same strange behaviour. It's like I can't have both buttons working together. Sound familiar? Anything that might cause/fix this?

Yes, you need to wire both players buttons identically.

Since the controllers have the same name/type, they use the same configuration (and you only have to configure one player in Emulationstation), thus the corresponding buttons for each player have to produce the same input code.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure, however, how I could wire the joystick any differently however. See the picture, it just plugs into one available slot on the circuit board. The buttons too were all wired identically on each side, I think, but I'll double check that when I rewire it (painting the cabinet atm)

...and up is down and down is up? It's upside-down. Spin the whole joystick assembly 180° in the control panel.
