where should i put the chd files on mame 2003 plus?
-
@ciaolo I'm not near my arcade at the moment. But Roslof's list suggests lr-mame for area51mx. Line 2350.
You have to make sure the rom you have is specifically for 2003+. But you should have a folder called /arcade/area51mx and the area51mx.chd file should be inside. Then you should have a file called area51mx.zip in the /arcade folder.
Also, https://www.sindenwiki.org/wiki/Barebones_Compatibility#Playable_2 shows compatibility with Mame 2003+. But a different rom and .chd file.
-
@Retro-Arcade-Fan yes, my roms are for mame2003+. I downloaded a romset with all 4850 supported games. My area51mx.zip is in the /arcade folder and area51mx.chd is in the /arcade/area51mx folder. Using lr-mame it is the same.

@ciaolo Linux filesystems are case sensitive, so make sure the files are not in mixed or upper case, they should be named exactly as the log file indicates. You should post the entire
runcommand.log
on pastebin.com, not just a fragment. -
@ciaolo Very strange. That's all I can think of. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'll have to check my setup later and get back. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
-
@Retro-Arcade-Fan thank you a lot
-
@mitu https://pastebin.com/gh8LeKTn
here you are -
Check the
.chd
file's hash - if it's not the correct file you'd get the same 'not found' message from the emulator. Verify the checksum forarcade/area51mx/area51mx.chd
against the source. -
@mitu it isn't the same. Why? I downloaded a romset
-
@ciaolo May not have been from a good source. Or wasn't put together correctly. Unfortunately, it's against forum rules to ask for roms so nobody can tell you anything else as far as that goes.
-
@Retro-Arcade-Fan I downloaded lot of different area51mx.chd files. They all have different md5
-
@mitu I checked again and the sha1 is correct. I was using the wrong software for verify.
-
@ciaolo Then I don't understand why it's not working. The location - as indicated so far - is correct.
Are you sure the permissions are ok on the file ? Can you run - from the command line -ls -l $HOME/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51*
and post the output ?
-
@mitu This is the output:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51: total 530044 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 5427557759 Feb 29 202 area51.chd /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51mx: total 1735572 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 1777220045 Feb 29 2020 area51mx.chd
-
Sorry, but I don't know what the issue might be. I can start the game fine with the following files:
ls -l $HOME/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51* -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 306827 May 15 17:04 /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51mx.zip /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/area51mx: total 1735572 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 1777220045 May 18 15:47 area51mx.chd
I haven't run a checksum on the
.chd
, but the size matches up your listing. Curiously, your listing doesn't show the.zip
ROMset file, but your initial log file did list it.The only differences I see - comparing the debug logs - is that I don't have either a core override or a content folder override for the core. You may try to rename those to see if they have an impact.

@mitu i tried with calspeed and it says "unsupported chd version"
-
@ciaolo That means you're using a
.chd
produced by a later version of MAME'schdman
, which is not supported by Mame2003-Plus. You'll need a.chd
compatible with Mame2003-plus, just like the rest of the files (zip
romsets) used by the emulator. -
@mitu yes, thank you. I finally found a good romset.
