Retroflag GPI Case 2, powers up but doesn't boot
-
I recently bought the Retroflag GPi Case 2 and a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. I followed all the steps at: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/.
I used the Raspberry Pi Imager v1.7.5.
Operating system: Retropie 4.8 (RPI 4/400) and picked my micro SD card and the program runs and completes.
I placed the RPI CM4 into the case and I heard and felt the connectors click into place. I placed the MicroSD card and switched the power button on. The little green light turns on. I can even see the screen turn on, but it just stays black and doesn't boot up.
Any suggestions on where I went wrong or how to fix it?

Try using the other HDMI port on the Pi that connects to your television.
There should be two of them.

@Addison said in Retroflag GPI Case 2, powers up but doesn't boot:

This is not a regular Pi4 - it's a compute module which is mounted in the case board and doesn't have any HDMI ports by itself.

@kazdannek You'll need additional configuration for the image before getting to work with the case - see https://retroflag.com/gpi_case_2.html for the additional scripts that need to be installed.

@mitu https://github.com/RetroFlag/GPICASE2W-display-patch/issues/6 Please note that the official patch may break after upgrading packages without a (simple) fix.

@HeineBorel Yes, the naming of the overlay is unfortunate. Note that your link is for the PIZero2W patch, for the CM4 is a separate repository, but it has the same issue (similar overlay name with an existing one, distributed by the
raspberrypi-kernel
package). There are 2 workarounds for this
- either rename the
overlays/dpi24.dtbo
file to something else and update theconfig.txt
with the new name - when updating RetroPie, skip the kernel and system packages and update only RetroPie's packages.
- either rename the
