    Hi!
    I only had a very cheap xbox360 controller knock-off, now I bought a Turtle Beach React-R - a more decent controller.

    Now I have a problem: My retropie won't detect it, I cannot really start, there only comes that error message. 😐

    Please excuse me, I'm pretty new in the retropie world. 🥺

      @nostu Check the controller's manual. Maybe it requires some driver to run. If it is compatible with Linux, you can install the driver. Or maybe just forget Bluetooth all together and connect it using USB.

      If you're strong
      You can fly
      You can reach the other side
      Of the rainbow...

        It's connected via USB.

          @nostu If you have a GUI on your RetroPie exit RetroPie and start it up. Check in the manual how to put the remote in pairing mode. Go to Bluetooth settings, pair the remote, and go back to RetroPie. See if it works. It's happened to me a few times

            Seriously - @nostu mentioned it's an USB gamepad. Please don't reply with just generic/boilerplate instructions. There's no 'remote' or 'Bluetooth' involved here.

            @nostu please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first/

            Try updating the xpad driver to the current version. You can do so by opening RetroPie-Setup from and navigating to Manage Packages -> Manage Driver packages -> xpad, then choosing to update the driver, followed by rebooting your Pi. See if the controller is recognized after the update.

              @mitu
              It's an Raspberry Pi 3B+
              It must be the latest Version 4.8 of retropie. Image made with Pi Imager.
              🤔

              I'll try that xpad driver update!

                @mitu Thank you very much! Updating the kernel and redownload the package did it! 🤗
