      @fede2782 said in Controller not working in Retropie Setup, Runcommand, etc.:

      Interesting that if I launch anything from the gnome terminal she'll the gamepad input works

      The EmulationStation front-end is supposed to be launched from such a gnome terminal shell and not directly. How exactly are you launching EmulationStation ?

        @mitu i'm using the shortcut which retropie setup as created in the app list. It launches gnome terminal full screen and then executes emulationstation

          @fede2782 OK, then in this case I don't understand the 2nd statement:

          Interesting that if I launch anything from the gnome terminal the gamepad input works

          I don't see what's different between the 2 launch methods. Is the gnome-terminal window not focused when you enter RetroPie-Setup from EmulationStation ?

            @mitu once i launch emulationstation the keyboard and joypad input doesn't work in every terminal based GUI. Both if i launch ES via the shortcut or manually via a gnome terminal screen.

            If I run the RetroPie-Setup script from the terminal the keyboard and joypad input works correctly.

              I still don't fully understand how run the RetroPie-Setup script from the terminal is different than launching from a terminal emulator. When you say terminal, do you mean outside of X11/Wayland/Desktop environment ? So if you launch RetroPie-Setup from gnome-terminal , then the menus cannot controlled with the gamepad ?

                @mitu i wasn't clear maybe.

                If I MANUALLY launch RetroPie Setup or other retropie scripts from the terminal (since i use desktop i launch from gnome terminal), the controller/gamepad and keyboard input works correctly.

                If I launch Retropie setup or runcommand config FROM EMULATIONSTATION keyboard input and controller/gamepad input don't work. During the games launches there is a runcommand loading screen which is Terminal based and keyboard/gamepad input doesn't work here either.

                Ask questions if I am still unclear. Have a good day

                  Yes, it's clear. Can you please answer my previous question:

                  Is the gnome-terminal window not focused when you enter RetroPie-Setup from EmulationStation ?

                      Then I have no idea - try using an x11 desktop session instead of wayland and see if that makes a difference.

                          @mitu it seems that in Debian (LXQT) this issue is not present. I think i'll just switch to it. I assume that this bug is related to the GNOME desktop environment
