My issue is that playing dreamcast games works perfectly fine with flycast - albeit there is some emulation lag sure, hence why i wanted to use redream which i hear great things about - yet launching any rom just returns me back to the rom list, I have the correct BIOS files as well.

I saw multiple people with similar issues, where some resolved their problem by removing the redream.cfg file and then uninstalling - reinstalling redream, I tried this multiple times to no luck.
Others resolved the Issue by installing redream and then updating all packages in the retro-pie setup - I did that also to no luck

This is the log for runcommand.log in /dev/shm/

And this is some additional info:

Pi: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2
Power Supply: Raspberry Pi Foundation official 2.5A power supply
      RetroPie: 4.8.7
      Built From: Raspberry Pi Imager
      USB: None
      Controller: PS5 Controller
      Emulator: Redream

Also if it has any bearing on the situation, I am using the GL (Fake KMS) OpenGL desktop driver with fake KMS driver.
This is because I am using retropie with my CRT via RCA following this guide here (https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/q91tlj/pi4_35mm_to_rca_composite_on_a_crt_240p_now/)

Latest Redream doesn't work on the Pi4 - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/35435/ for the cause. We'll have to wait until an update is made by the Redream author - keep an eye on the other topic.
