        Perfect !
Seems you are getting the hang of it.

Let me know if you want to know more about the code.
I can teach you some stuff.
I could use some volunteers in the future, you know ;-)

I can understand it and I can tinker with it, but I'm not a "programmer" however I still try to contribute what I can! :D

@TPR said in How to emulate Bally Astrocade, VTech Creativision, and Emerson Arcadia-2001 in lr-mess:

I finally figured it out, and in case anyone needs to know for future reference:

Option 1: Go into "Slot Devices" by pressing TAB to get into the MAME config menu and choose "Joy" under "ctrl2" - This is not set by default.

Option 2: Add -ctrl2 joy to your command line in emulators.cfg - This will force a controller to put put into controller port 2. So for example, my command line for Astrocade looks like this:

              @TPR @LilaQ
I read both your posts and added this in my script for :
              -astrocde
              -astrocdl
              -astrocdw
With a default install for these drivers "-ctrl2 joy" will be added automatically.

Remember my script doesn't use "astrocade" (with an A) just :
              -astrocde
              -astrocdl
              -astrocdw

Recently, many "all in one" systems have been promoted as "working systems". I didn't saw that. I'll do a quick search in the previous MAME releases. A lot of work to update the gamelist.xml.

New edit: That list above is ok. I revisited the old MAME journals.

I have manually added the all_in1 drivers in the 271 database.
To get it just update the script and the database will be overwritten with a new one.

                        Found something that is interesting.
Viewing on the progettosnaps website I found that he has a github page with the ini files over here :
                        https://github.com/AntoPISA/MAME_SupportFiles/tree/main

If needed we can still find the old ini files over there..

This is a mistake. I'll add it. It works fine. No reason why it shouldn't be in the list. I'll add it to my gamelists.xml file.

Thanks for the 0.272 update, I'll finish the gamelist update today

New edit: All_in_1 gamelist.xml is now updated for MAME 0.271 and 0.272.

I will add that driver manually later.

                              Might be intersting for you.
There is also a tag multi-game in the database.
Might be that you can find more for all_in1 when looking at these drivers with the multi-game tag.

It's a mix of Casino machines, arcade machines and cartridges with many games. If we exclude Arcade and Casino Machine, only those games seems to be (maybe) ok for "All in one" as cartridges :

                                multi96
                                multigam

                                multigm3
                                multigmb
                                multigmt
                                sgmt1
supergm3 1992 pirated arcade machine don't fit in "all in 1"

All am_mg, geimulti, games seems to be Casino Slot Machine games. geimulti and twinadvk seems to be arcade boards.

                                I'll do a double check later.strikethrough text

I came up with a few drivers,
I filtered the database on :

                                  • non-arcade (grep non-)
                                  • multigame (grep multigame)
                                  • not all_in1 (grep -v all_in1)

Full command to test the drivers one by one :
                                  cat /opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame0271_systems_sorted_info |grep non-|grep multigame|grep -v all_in1|cut -d " " -f2|while read driver;do /opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame -ui_active $driver;done

Found that next drivers seem to work ok and could potentially be added to the list all_in1 :
                                  cham24
                                  smssgame
                                  smssgamea
                                  vgtablet

                                  What do you think ?

                                  P.s.
                                  Added marc101 to all_in1.ini and 271/272 database.

@Folly @DTEAM Working on getting BBC Micro Installed and so far a lot of games work perfectly fine, for example:

But trying some more graphics intensive games the screen gets scrambled and starts to flicker:

(Top game is Ransom or King's Ransom, bottom game is Elite)

I've installed both the BBC Micro B and BBC Micro B +128 and get the same results for both.

Any idea what graphics card or expansion I might need to put into one of the internal slots in MAME or if there is another settings I should be using?

Note that I've tried just about every dip switch combo I could try.

Not sure either what should be done to get it working.
I will have a look at "elite" when I can.

Although I must say this discussion has been on the forum before.
As far as I know mame isn't the best bbc micro emulator but for RetroPie it's the best available.

I have made some module-scripts with alternative emulators but sadly newer gcc will not compile these older packages anymore, if you run a newer OS.

Tried elite and elitea from bbcb_flop.
                                        Saw these graphic glitches also.
                                        Mame warns for "graphic issues".
I think there is noting you can do about it.

                                          @DTEAM

I came up with a few drivers,
I filtered the database on :

                                          • non-arcade (grep non-)
                                          • multigame (grep multigame)
                                          • not all_in1 (grep -v all_in1)

Full command to test the drivers one by one :
                                          cat /opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame0271_systems_sorted_info |grep non-|grep multigame|grep -v all_in1|cut -d " " -f2|while read driver;do /opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame -ui_active $driver;done

Found that next drivers seem to work ok and could potentially be added to the list all_in1 :
                                          cham24
                                          smssgame
                                          smssgamea
                                          vgtablet

                                          What do you think ?

                                          P.s.
                                          Added marc101 to all_in1.ini and 271/272 database.

All systems are for arcade games excepted vgtablet

New edit: vgtablet has been added to "All in one" gamelist.xml

                                            smssgamea

My database states that these system drivers are non-arcade and the don't use a coin to play.
Besides "Sega Master Systems" on itself, isn't arcade either.

If these are really arcade, as you stated, then my database isn't correct and has to be improved somehow.

Where did you find the info of these being arcade ?
Can you share your source ?

I have added vgtablet to the database 271/272 and ini file.
