Hypseus and DirkSimple they conflict on EmulationStation. Any suggestions?
-
Try to explain how it currently happens.
Read the current docs about daphne here:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Daphne/The games cause the issue it's the first "Dragon's Lair".
If you use the F2 Rom based of the games you need to put all needed files on lair.daphne.
in the same roms folder "/home/<user>/RetroPie/roms/daphne" you can also put lair.ogv.
From emulationstation now you can found two voices.... The problem is that both are recognized as simply “Lair.”
So.. if you set Hypseus for this on runcommand you can't use the DirkSimple .OGV file. But if you set DirkSimple for "Lair" on runcommand you can't use/launch the F2 rom based (which would normally require hypseus).I don't know if I explained myself correctly.
But I tried renaming the file .ogv. Like lair-dirksimple.ogv. But when I did that, lr-dirksimple didn't recognize the game at all and wouldn't start.
I have also tryed to create a different folder.. like lair.dirksimple and put the lair.ogv here but after that emulationstation It cannot find anything to execute.I have also tryed to create a folder called "lairdirksimple.daphe" and put lair.ogv inside of it.
In this mode you can launch for emulationstation but the game is recognized as “dirksimple,” and if we associate it with dirksimple, it still doesn't work.I could create a “DirkSimple” folder in the Retropie roms folder and create a new section separate from the Daphne titles. But that would be creating a duplicate, more or less, of the same system.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get around this?

....You can rename any of them with the metadata editor in EmulationStation in order to know which should be run with DirkSimple or Hypseus. The filename doesn't need to change, just the 'name' that's displayed by ES.

Lol... Damn language barriers :)
I was sure I wouldn't be able to explain the problem properly.I'll try to post some images with brief explanations.
So... this is my current emulationstation daphne collection:
From this picture you can see three different version.
Let's exclude the third one... it goes in the dle21.daphne folder. The second on the list it's the hyseus/daphne rom based F2. This uses the folder lair.daphne and all correct structure.
When you need to run it... you can choose it from emulationstation, select (in my case) hypseus and play it.The first title, on the other hand, is that of the file lair.ogv, which is useful for dirksimple.
So the file lair.ogv it's simply put on roms/daphne folder. you need to select "lr-dirksimple" from runcommand and you can play. However, this causes a conflict.
The conflict is that runcommand recognizes both of these titles simply as lair, so if you set one of them to be executed with DirkSimple, this choice also affects the other, and therefore one of them will not work/start.Have I managed to explain myself better?

Would you like me to send you, perhaps via private message, the same concept using my native language (Italian) and then you can try to translate it? I'm sure I can explain what's happening to me better that way. -

Yes, that's better. I was under the impression that
runcommand
would may be able to differentiate between them, but that's not the case since it stores the association between rom and emulator assystem_romnameWithoutExtension
, so bothlair.daphne
andlair.ogv
would be remembered as same entry.Unless renaming the
.ogv
file toLair.ogv
would work withlr-dirksimple
, I don't see a solution outside of using a different system. -

Lair.ogv with uppercase L... good.... try immediatelly... back in moment and edit with feedback.

strange i can't edit previous post....
So... i rename the file to Lair.ogv. Emulationstation found it on daphne system:
This is runcommand windows:
Now try to set lr-dirksimple......and omg:
It's work!!! Great..... case closed @mitu :)
++++ edit ++++
now i can only need to change it's name on metadata and add scraping image like other...lol :) -
