Strangely in lr-mame2003 (1.3.6 under Retropie 4.0.6) the TAB key to access Mame menu is no longer working. Updated binaries yesterday.
lr-mame2010 does recognize TAB as usual and opens the menu.
      Any suggestion ?

If you haven't already, try removing:

        /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/mame2003/cfg/default.cfg

Or if you're using the 'arcade' folder:

        /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/mame2003/cfg/default.cfg

I had the same issue (accidentally deleted the menu input in the MAME menu). Am using arcade folder, and using either lr-name2003, lr-imame or lr-fba depending on the rom.
Doing the above fixed it for roms using lr-mame2003, but still can't bring up MAME menu when using lr-fba .
I also found another default.cfg in ./configs and deleted that, but still no joy. Any ideas?

fba isn't mame - it doesn't have the mame menu :)

Of course! Well, that was a bit embarrassing, ;-) Cheers for setting me straight.

@mediamogul Deleting the cfg solved the issue. No clue what caused the problem but now TAB is working again. Thanks.

Hi being new to retropie, Do I just paste this into the terminal to get the tab function back up and running?

                  Thanks,

@tmak you have to delete that file. If your're connected by terminal or directly on the raspberry you can use Midnight commander file utility to browse thru folders and delete the file:

                    sudo mc
