Hello all,
First time trying out RetroPi. I have went through all the steps on:I have the Raspberry Pi 2 B+ Model and I have the .img file installed on a SanDisk 16GB MicroSD card.
And everything seems to be working fine, except, when I boot up.
It starts out with the aforementioned rainbow screen, then immediately switches to a little raspberry icon in the top left corner, and the RetroPi logo is next for a few seconds. Next, there is a black screen with a blinking line in the top left of the screen, like it's waiting for input from a keyboard.
Finally, this is what I get:
Any ideas on what I'm missing, what I've done wrong, or where I can go from here?
Thanks for any help on this one! I'm lost and confused.

Please follow the installation instructions on our wiki https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation

Thank you for the fast reply. Went back, retried all the steps on the Wiki page, and, unfortunately, it is giving me the same screen. Any ideas? Like, do you think I picked a bad memory card?
Here is the model # of the MicroSD card: SDSDQM-016G-B35A (just in case this means anything) (This model # is not mentioned as good or bad or the SD Wiki page)
I downloaded the .img file directly from RetroPi website, unzipped it with 7Zip, used Win32DiskImager to format it to the SD card, inserted it into the Raspberry PI, plugged in the Raspberry Pi, and it said something like "Preparing to resize, will resize in 5 seconds".
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue, as I seem to be the only one experiencing it. The only thing I can come up with personally is I am using a bad SD card, or there is something wrong internally with my Raspberry Pi.

Which image did you download - and how many raspberries show at the top left on boot ?
-
same issue here. mine show one one raspberry when it boots

@alfonsopagan Did you download the wrong image ? If you have 1 Raspberry then you have a Raspberry pi Zero or 1. Not a Raspberry Pi 2/3. This is mentioned in the installation instructions - https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#sd-images
-
Raspberry Pie B+ image for raspberry pi 2 and 3 followed all steps 3 times now with different sd cards same result.
-
@alfonsopagan Did you even read what I wrote ?
You have a Raspberry Pi 1 - not a Raspberry pi 2 - Download the Raspberry Pi image for the Raspberry Pi 1/Zero.
-
Sorry got it now, it dont matter if is a raspberry pi 2. Did it and its working.
-
@alfonsopagan What doesn't matter if it's a Raspberry Pi 2 ? If you mean a Raspberry Pi 2 can use either image that's correct, as the Raspberry Pi 2 has a newer CPU (with backwards compatibility). However you will lose performance using the wrong image on a Raspberry Pi 2 or 3.

Thanks BuZz! Yea...this is so my bad. I assumed since the Raspberry Pi I ordered from Amazon a while ago, since it was called Raspberry Pi "2" B+, was part of the 2/3 generation. But, after reading about the 0/1 vs 4 raspberry icons displaying, and not paying attention to that during boot, downloaded the 0/1 image file, and everything is working fine!
Again, sorry for being a goof and letting that one slip right by me...
Thank you all for the fast responses! I will be working on obtaining a faster Raspberry Pi in the mere future.
