Golden Axe Glitch

@GreenHawk84 Try mame 2010 or FBA.
-
@GreenHawk84 I played the megadrive port and her fire was fine there
-
@herb_fargus Yes I noticed that too, the Genesis version is solid on emulators.
@Beretta9 I read that somewhere else here that Sega arcade games are good on Mame2010. I will try that later.
-
fbalpha-libretro should run this fine (there was a glitch with fba prior to 0.2.97.31, which means pifba and fbalpha2012-libretro).
-
@barbudreadmon Hell yes I love lr-FBA, I'll check it out.
-
Okay so I tried lr-fba and lr-fba2012 and both of those run good but have horrible sound (same problem for each emulator). lr-Mame2010 seems to work great. Actually, lr-Mame2010 might be the best emulator for Sega arcade hardware on Retropie right now.

That's strange, altered beast shouldn't run properly on fba2012 : https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha2012/issues/16 .
By the way, i remember reading on libretro's forum that playing with "sound presets" actually improve the sound a lot on some emulators, didn't try it though. -
@barbudreadmon i seem to remember it affects the speech in altered beast also. i wonder if the garbled sound in system 16 is in FBA standalone? i had a look on their forum and the only references to be system 16 i could find is that it's "fully emulated" :P
i need to test it properly on my pi as i may be thinking of mame2003 or something else!
-
@dankcushions yes Golden Axe has garbled sound in both FBA emu I tried. Works great in Mame2010. I will use Mame2010 for these games over Mame2003.
-
@GreenHawk84 I think i know why the sound is garbled on libretro-fbalpha, i'll try to fix this later today.
-
@GreenHawk84 Ok, i changed fbalpha's samplerate from 32kHz to 44.1kHz (not sure why it was hardcoded to 32kHz, i took this from the old port and never changed it because i thought there was a good reason), could you rebuild fbalpha and tell me if you hear any difference ? Honestly i didn't hear much difference between fbalpha at 32kHz, fbalpha at 44.1kHz, and mame2010, but perhaps i'm kinda deaf. It could (should ?) impact other games.
-
Hmm, that's strange, I will have to go check it out. If you don't notice a drastic issue with Golden Axe's sound, I am not sure what is happening on my end vs. yours or anyone elses. I didn't change any sound options for anything, it is out of the box sound over HDMI and other games work just fine. I will try and update everything and see what happens in the other cores with Golden Axe.
