RetroPie and Picade side button mapping
-
Pi Model: 1
RetroPie Version Used: latest
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard (for Config only)
Controller used: Picade Arcade controller
Error messages received: "Already Taken"The picade that I have has 4 side buttons in addition to the side regular arcade buttons. The problem is that all the side buttons register as the same button. Trying to make one of the side buttons start and one select but the config tells me that its a duplicate button. When I configure the Input and hold a key to configure it tells me that it recognizes it as a keyboard. All the side buttons register as "Key Left Shift"
Anyone know how to get the side buttons to register as different keys?
Thanks

"Latest" is not a valid retropie-setup version - please provide actual version numbers.
Which Picade model ? I'm asuming retail as it has 2 buttons on each side.
Are the inputs mapped to a joystick or keyboard ? Depends which firmware you are on.
Sounds to me like it is wired up incorrectly. On mine, two buttons on the right side show up as different keyboard presses. on the left it's just volume control.

So Sorry, version is 4.1 of RetroPie
The Picade that I have has 2 side buttons (one on each side) and 2 on the front, I previously called them all side buttons. There are a total of 4 black buttons on the front/side and 6 buttons on the top with the joystick.

@arell12 is it a kickstarter purchase or a more recent retail one? Again - are the buttons mapped to keyboard or joystick? (What does emulationstation say when configuring)
-
It says keyboard and its the kickstarter model.

Thanks. The problem then is bad wiring or a fault as they normally map to different keys.
