Device: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
      Retropie: 4.1
      Kodi: Latest version downloaded

I just bought the RP3 a few days ago. I really enjoy the gaming. I installed Kodi through Retropie, but it has been very difficult to load. I tried to play around with the video mode option (pressed any button during the initial load), and it worked a few times when I set it up for 1900x1280. However, it recently stopped working altogether.

I have a crash log here:

@edB76 Remove your Sony Gamepad and try again.

Worked fo me too...I've connected a PS4 Controller and Kodi only showed the splash screen before crashing. Removing the controller exactly in the moment while Kodi was starting up, let it start without problems. I think the problem affects PS4 and PS3 controllers.

I have tested it with a wired Logitech F510 right now and although Kodi is loading, the menu is stuck on the left....so I think Kodi does not like Gamepads at all, better disconnect any while using it.

Since some recent kernel / drivers updates, some joysticks causes Kodi to crash, and others look like they get a button stuck. Others still work fine. If you are affected by this, you can disable the gamepad support in System -> System -> Input Devices until Kodi 17 comes out. It will have official joystick support, and hopefully all of this will be fixed.
