PS3 hotkey has never worked... please help
-
Apologies in advance, I realize this question has been posted ad nauseum, but I have been banging my head against my desk for the last three weekends so Im at my wits end.
Pi Model: 3 B
RetroPie Version Used: 4.01
Built From: Retropie Website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard/Mouse
Controller used: Dual Shock PS3I have NEVER gotten the hot key, either as the default (Select ="3") or as the PS button ("16") to work to exit/save games while playing. Everything else works perfectly, I can play flawlessly, but the only way I can exit or save a game is using an old usb keyboard which is not ideal for my plans for this system.
I have read dozens of threads about this, and seeminly tried every solution with no success.... please help.

@misguidedgeek Are you using these in combination with other hotkeys? You'd need to define one as the hotkey_enable button and others as the actual function keys. You'd also need to make sure that the option for these to be used is enabled in retroarch and also any non-retroarch emulator config you're using.

No, Im just trying to set up one controller, yes in the retropie_config I have enabled hotkeys and changed that line (taking out the comment hash #) to input_enable_hotkey_btn = "0" (mapped to my select button, and changed input reset to input_rest_btn = "3" (mapped to my start button). Also, looking the retroarch config file, looking at my controller I can see that input_exit_emulator_btn = "3" and my input_enable_hotkey_btn = "0".
What am I missing?

@misguidedgeek Have you got the USB keyboard attached when you're playing? I'm pretty sure that it overrides the controller if it's connected for the hotkeys. Try it with the keyboard disconnected.

@markyh444 Great call! It didnt work at first but I went back in and played with the config file a little bit and now Im in business! Seems so obvious now, none of the forum post or blog post I read even mentioned it.
Thanks so much for your help!
