Help newbie here, really need help to run, run and gun 1 and 2

Tried all the possible roms from different sources cant get run and gun to work, tried mame2003, mame4all, fba. Any comment or help will be highly appreciated. Thanks! 😀

Setting up arcade emulation is different and can be difficult for someone new.

First you have to understand romsets and that each arcade emulator uses a different romset revision.

You need to read this document:

What you'll want to do is decide which emulator you want to use and then download that complete romset package with every supported rom and then just get the roms you want from that local download and put them on your RPi.

Thanks for the reply.. I tried downloading the roms from multiple sources. But there no indication pertaining to what romset they are. Sorry if ever i have a wrong grammar since english is not my native language. I got run and gun ver 10.4, 10.8, 10.12 but none of them works, been trying to make this game to work for over a month now, sadly cant seem to make it work. Thanks

Downloading individual roms is not recommended. It is a path to frustration as it is impossible to verify their origin. You need to choose an emulator then acquire a full reference set that is compatible with it or vice versa.

It usually won't work just downloading that 1 game from some random site.

You will want to look for the "complete" romset with every single rom in it (containing like 4000 or more roms). It will be large, like several GBs in size. Then get the game "run and gun" from out of that romset that you just downloaded.

Thanks, I kinda did that with the fba mame. 78 romset and fba romset, the rest works fine expect for run and gun 1 and 2 and some other games but mostly all works and did put the file in the subdirectory, for mamae4all, fba, mame2003, tried all possible emulators available for it. Hope somebody have a copy of it working, Im not sure if its ok to ask here to send me a copy REMOVED. If not please just disregard the request. @Ditch123 and run and gun 1 from the mame 0.78 romset loads in mame2003, but can't get past the memory check

run and gun 2 is at game_not_working status so will not work on mame2003 at all. in the documentation (compatibility list)

these games aren't supported by fba at all. in the documentation (game list/compatibility list)

you might have luck with mame2010 and advmame but you will still need their respective romsets. in the documentation.

Thanks atleast have an idea now how to make it work, it was very helpful. Now perhaps I just need to try them on mame2010 or advance mame. Sorry for the violation, never will it happen again. Atleast now i have a sourceful idea, and was narrowed down to 2 emulators, was thinking it would work on mame 2003 since all my mame used that emulator and the last game i was trying to make work was run and gun,.. I was hoping not to use another emulator for just one game but now atleast i know i have to. Thanks all for the comments again every comment was helpful... 😀 👍

@ditch123 I know this is an old topic. But it looks like a bunch of know it alls replied to this message, and didn't even remotely answer the guys question. To get run and gun to play and passed the load screen you have to hit f2 and f3 at the same time. You most likely never got this game to work. I hope you now will.
