Ports not working
-
The other day I received everything I needed to make a retropie. Or so I thought. I purchased a cheap SD card at first because I didn't think the SD card really mattered. Got everything installed and it was running fine. Tried installed Kodi and this is where my problems started. With the first cheap card, Kodi would install, but then not show up in ports. Ports wouldn't even show up on Emulationstation. Regardless of what I did or how I installed it. Figured to myself that it had to be the cheap card I got.
Drove to Walmart and bought another card (this card was not on the list either, close model number, but not exact.. Formatted it, installed the imagine onto it and got it up and running. Got all my roms on there, showing up and working, got the PS3 controller working fine. Went to install Kodi and this time it installed correctly and showed up under ports. However, when you click on Kodi (or anything under ports), screen goes black and then 1 line of text shows up at the top that says "config file not found for kodi" or something to that effect. This happened for Doom and Kodi. Same error on both.
I am assuming it is a card issue again? I have ordered yet another card (SDSQUNC-032G-GN6MA) which I saw someone else have success with (however, I dont see that specific card on the list, so did I just waste another 10 bucks?).
Any ideas?

@Rabidtrout The SD card is the most important thing. Not all cards are compatible with the raspberry pi hardware. Without a genuine compatible device, the writing of the image could be problematic and as you have seen, errors will occur. With regard to Doom, have you installed it together with it's associated files? You don't provide anymore information as requested here to enable further advice:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-firstFor example, what is your Power Supply? What Pi? These are key things that you must reveal. If you are using a Pi3 with a phone charger (for example) instead of a 2.5A supply, that could be the cause of all your issues, not the card.

@Rabidtrout Which version of the RetroPie script are you using?
There were changes made last week which may be causing this issue but a fix was implemented over the weekend (See this post. )
Try removing Doom and Kodi, updating the RetroPie script to version 4.1.9 and then try to install again.

How to replicate the problem: Launch any application under ports.
As for Doom, I am not sure what associated files. I installed it the same way I installed Kodi, via optional packages. I've "seen" the way I install Kodi function correction on Youtube, so I feel pretty confident that I have installed it correctly, so I really think that I just struck out with the card.
I thought this card got me a little further than the original one that I purchased, however I think that my timing between me giving up on the old card and going and getting another new one was when they rolled out the update and it wasn't the card that got me further, but the update and the card was still the wrong card. Here's to hoping this card will work. :)
Unless you can see something in that config file that may tell you something else.
Sorry for the long winded post.

@Rabidtrout which git revision? (the hexdecimal number in brackets in retropie-setup after "last Commit"

@BuZz 123cff1

@Rabidtrout and have you re-installed the problematic ports since updating to that version ? from the error I think you may not have done as it should be resolved now.
-
@BuZz Yep. That fixed it! You are the man!!
Last question. I successfully connected a ps3 controller to it and was using it for a little bit. Now when I turn it on, it registers as player 2 on the controller. I've re-ran the setup and that didn't work. I have tried uninstalling it and it says that there are no devices to remove, but it connects to it when I turn it on.
Any ideas?

@Rabidtrout actually @dudleydes already said to do this earlier in the thread. :)
Please open a new issue for an unrelated problem so it's easier for people to find when searching etc.
