Retro Pie Kernal Modules issue
-
Hi There,
I am new to retropie but have searched long and hard before posting.
Hardware- Pi 2 model B
Software - Pre-installed from Retropi website
Devices connected- F10 usb controller and KBD
Error Message:
Failed To Start Load Kernal Modules.
See 'systemctl status sustemd-modules-load.services' for detailsMy Pi boots into command line but I was not able to use any control or KBD but Putty SSH was able to allow me to see the systemctl status :
● systemd-modules-load.service - Load Kernel Modules
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service; static)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sun 2017-01-22 20:29:14 UTC; 39min ago
Docs: man:systemd-modules-load.service(8)
man:modules-load.d(5)
Process: 103 ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
Main PID: 103 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)Hopefully the images load as the only two screens I get.
I have tried Sudo apt-get update, upgrade etc. So im stuck.
The last thing I did was update all experimental packages from Source. It stopped stating it could not locate a certain file which I did not take a photo or write down. After reboot then this hole fiasco.
There was no guide I was following just updating everything in Retropie before testing out roms I have found.
-
I had one more search and found https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=143806
but after hashing out the modulels in that list to try and boot, it now boots but still nothing so I have reinstalled retropie and will be loading updates again but not experimental packages from source.

@soullessninja89 Is your SD card genuine and compatible?
-
It is, retro pie was working perfectly until i initiated external packages from source update, then the issue happened. Right now I am reinstalling Retro from scratch and start again.
-
@soullessninja89 looks like a bad sdcard
-
@BuZz I have had no issues with the SD card, REinstalled Retropi and its running smooth, the last thing I did was install all experimental packages from source and bam I get the kernal issue. So Im leaving that install section out, and so far ( same SD CARD) im still able to use use retropi and the roms/emus I have put on, I made this post for the fact that it happened after installing all from source and I did not want to go back to the start and do it all over again, which I have now done "sadface"
-
@soullessninja89 shouldn't be related. If your SD card is bad, it might not be noticeable until do do some more io, and install stuff etc.
-
@BuZz ill keep an eye on it and try the other SD cards I have and repost if there are any similar issues, cheers BuZz
