      Hi!
      I had 3.8, i think, and ran the RetroPie script update, then updated all packages. Now, ES doesn't start, i get a login prompt. If i type in the default credentials, ES starts, but won't accept input, and doesn't seem to be on the network.

        If i'm reading this right, it looks like it's not loading uinput or joydev. I can login to ES, but once I'm in, i have no input.

          unfortunately ... I can only advise you from now, to make a complete image backup before EVER updating. I have 14 Retropie Projects and several of them have broken when updating. But I made an image backup, so I just formatted the SD card, started up again and back to normal.
          It might take a little extra time, especially according to how large your SD card is, but I suggest always making a backup before updating.
          There's not "go back" button after you update ... well, as far as I know, lol.

            Managed to SSH into it, manually ran updates again, had to force the dpkg lock removal, and all seems ok now, whew!
