@butflash one button mash closes the image. The next button mash opens runcommand.

Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow. I've got something showing using the runcommand-onstart.sh script for a certain duration. I want to jump out when a button is pressed.
        Thanks

@mxstar1 easy enough to call omxplayer and an mp4 with the onstart.sh command so it's called right before the game launches

            thank you, got it working

Outstanding work as usual, and it worked right away!!

With the newest version(s) or Retropie, has anyone noticed that once this feature is enabled, it can't be turned off - regardless of whether or not launch menu AND launch menu art settings are disabled within Retropie?

I'm not complaining, just wanted to share since I thought it was interesting.

I can try to delete the new image from the config folder to see if that is a catalyst.

                Thanks !

                  This is the expected behavior.

If the launching.png (or .jpg) file exists, show it. If "launch menu art" is enabled AND there is a scraped image for the game being launched, the scraped image takes precedence.

The surest way to disable is deleting or renaming the launching.png (or .jpg) file.

FYI: you can use a game specific launching image, we talked about it some posts above in this very same thread.

                  Cheers!

Some great Splashscreens, both in this thread and the thread for the startup screens too.

A quick question: I may have overlooked it somewhere, but couldn't seem to find the info on the Wiki: if creating a splash for Runcommand, what size should the canvas be, what resolution, and what would a good 'median' file size be? I'm going to be creating my own as I only run a few systems, but I want to keep them all uniform, so based on the same template. I'm also not fussed about the background image being whichever theme i'm using.

If anyone has the answer to those I'd appreciate it!

I would like to know it too but there's no final answer

In the script I've made to automatically generate launching images based on an emulationstation theme, I used the 1024x576 resolution. But I'm still not sure if it's the best option.

BTW: we are talking about the script in this thread: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7193/runcommand-launching-images-for-any-theme

This splashscreens are so cool! But rather than keeping them in your Dropbox, would it be possible to keep them in some public archiving site? Or does it have any license or trademark issue which makes you can't distribute them onto those sites?

There is totally no offence on my above questions. I really appreciate the incredible artworks and efforts. Many many thanks!

                                Hi,

Really nice concept these loadscreens however i have an issue. Not sure if this has been answered in this thread already but once i add these loadscreens i cannot enter the runcommand menu anymore before launch pressing the appropriate button. If i remove the launching.png from the folder i can again entery the runcommand menu with the appropriate button press.

Why is this? Is there a fix for this? All the setting are as instructed in the OP of this guide.

                                Thanks

@Freakadude : Nevermind. I read that i just need to mash the button more quickly and often for the menu to pop up and sure enough it does.

@Freakadude You have to wait until the image is gone, and then you have about 2 seconds to hit the button to enter the runcommand.

How do I get the tg16cd image working correctly? It seems to only take the image from the pcengine folder which is set to the regular tg16.
I tried copying the pcengine folder and renaming it to tg16cd/pcecd but the system still loads the one in the pcengine folder, i'm a bit of a perfectionist so this is really bothering me lol

                                        Thanks for these!

I'm not sure what you're doing (might give more information) but the directories should be pce-cd and/or tg-cd to match the theme's standard directories. I think this script looks at the theme's directory structure and matches with the rom's directories.
Rom directories "tg16cd" and "pcecd" won't be a match with the theme's directories pce-cd and tg-cd.
