Help Setting up Bluetooth Keyboard (Kano Keyboard)
-
Hi, i'm afraid i'm a little bit of a coding/retropie Noob so apologies for asking for basic help. I searched the wiki and didn't find any response which clearly answers all of my issues. I'm running retropie 4.1 on the raspberry pi 3 kit from Pi Hut. I wanted to use my sons old Kano keyboard with it but i'm having problems getting it to pair (i don't have the MAC address for it). I tried just plugging it in directly (as USB keyboard) before initial boot up but the pi doesn't detect it as a controller (I also had the two USB SNES controllers in at the time also and it detected those fine so configured these no problems).
I tried configuring it as a new bluetooth device and when it did the scan, it seemed to fail, but left me stuck on a command line which bizzarely i was able to type on (using the keyboard) but with no way to get back to the menu system. After a hard reset, none of the keys worked on the keyboard (such as Esc when trying to get back to a higher menu level) so it seemed as though the pair had failed despite me previously being able to type.
If i want to pair the keyboard using bluetooth do I have to set up the little bluetooth dongle first (the one which comes with the kano keyboard) before it will be visible? Why won't it work as USB? Also, how do i set up the dongle when i can't type on command line? Could someone just supply me with simple step by step instructions on how to do this please? All the wiki instructions refer to controller set up and not for keyboard! I need the keyboard to set up the wifi! Thanks

If anyone did try to help, don't worry I ditched the mini keyboard and went for a standard USB one. Solved
